Which OF is best?

Postby LMBombers » Sun Dec 04, 2005 6:48 am

I have Roy White, Tommie Agee, Cleon Jones & Art Shamsky that I want to play vs RHP in a DH league. Which is the best way to use al 4 of them:

option 1
LF White 2(+2)
CF Jones 3(-1)
RF Agee 1(-3)
DH Shamsky

option 2
LF Jones 2(-1)
CF Agee 1(-3)
RF Shamsky 4(+1)
DH White

I'd take option #2. As a rule CF gets most of the plays/throws. However, you may want to go with option #1 when you are throwing a RHSP. When you throw a RHSP the opposing team's (mine for instance)LHH's will hit alot balls to RF.

Splinter, Since you have to set your lineup for a 3 game series are you saying go with Shamsky in RF if you are throwing 2 or 3 LHSP in the series and Shamsky as DH if you are throwing 2 or 3 RHSP? Of course all this hinges on who my opponent is throwing as well since Shamsky won't be playing at all against LHSP. Against LHSP I will be going with option #1 since the DH I will be using is a non-OF.

By the way as I am sure you are aware, this advice you are giving me is for my NY Metro Yankees in our AL/NL 2 team league. To muddy the waters more I also just picked up Bobby Murcer who is a little better fielder than Shamsky but is a little worse hitter vs RHP. I guess I will just play around with it till I figure out what works.
