Single Season Mean Reversion

Postby jayhawk81 » Mon Mar 24, 2008 5:18 am

I am playing the 86 season, first I have not played the mystery card format. Do the players seasons mean revert towards something that resembles the actual season they posted that year? If not I need to dump my underperforming group of slackards.

It's supposed to be similar to the real season in stats but of course like all things , sometimes it just doesn't work out the way you plan . The mystery card format is ok . I've played it ( 70's,80's) but it's not my fave . I like to know what to expect .

Using this strategy you would want to dump all your players that are producing better than they did in real life as they are due to start sucking wind. All the players that are under producing would be ready to take off at any moment to get their numbers up to par.

The 1986 game has nothing to do with a mystery card game. You know what the cards are before you start playing. Do not start dumping your players that are not producing as you would expect. All the drop/adds reduce your overall team salary with all the 20% salary hits you take. It is best to create the best team you can in the preseason and just ride it out for the most part. Trading can be hard to do but is a good way to change up some players. You don't take a salary hit in trading. If you want to drop 1 or 2 players go ahead and do it. However wholesale changes will not benefit your team. Learn from your experience and build a better team next time. Look at the teams that are doing the best in your league and try to figure out why that team is winning in their park and yours may not be. Could it be how one team fits their home park better than another? Better matchups in your division? The more you play and learn the better you will get in time!

thanks, I had a typo in my original email. I meant to say I have only played the mystery card formats before, which I like.

Based on your responses, I can't wait for the wins to start rolling in. I really liked my team coming out of the draft.
