That honor belongs to the man with the plan, Floyd Youmans who threw a [b:d57ed5d2b3]no-hitter[/b:d57ed5d2b3] against the San Francisco club as the Expos defeated the Giants, 2-0. On the losing end of the battle, Mike Lacoss took the loss to drop his record to 15-10. When asked for a comment after the game, Lacoss said, "Ummmmmmmmm, what do you want me to say? We got no-hit."

Ryan was supported by a rare home run provided by Bill Doran, his 5th of the season. Taking the loss for the Cardinals was John Tudor who dropped his record to 12-8.
[b:d57ed5d2b3]NL East vs West, part II...[/b:d57ed5d2b3] The recently struggling Padres managed to keep pace with Houston by holding on tight during San Diego's 4-2 win over New York. The win was an extremely costly one though as San Diego lost their star veteran Steve Garvey for at least 2 weeks after he was injured following the bottom of the 4th inning.
After lining out into a double play to end the inning, Garvey was greeted in the dugout by the San Diego chicken who tried to console him. Thinking the chicken was the enemy, Garvey took a swing at the chicken but missed. The Chicken responded by hitting Garvey on the head with a rubber chicken. Garvey then slipped on the rubber chicken on his way out to the field and will be sidelined as he nurses his pulled groin.
