Henderson's home run, his 27th of the season, came with two outs in the third inning, and couldn't have come at a better time.

Rickey's HR caused dozens of Yankee fans who made the trip to Baltimore to break out in a familiar chant... "Rickey! Rickey! Rickey!".

The win allowed New York to maintain their slim lead in the American League East. With eleven games remaining... the Yankees are 1 game ahead of Detroit & 4 games ahead of Toronto.

[b:e0d5462301]NL EAST UPDATE...[/b:e0d5462301] The St. Louis Cardinals [u:e0d5462301]defeated the Mets[/u:e0d5462301] for the second time in as many nights to open up a rare 2 game division lead. St. Louis won it in the 10th inning... after Terry Pendleton drove home Andy Van Slyke with an RBI single. Van Slyke had stolen second base to get into scoring position. For Pendleton, it was a rare RBI... Terry has driven in just 13 runs all season.

[b:e0d5462301]NL WEST UPDATE...[/b:e0d5462301] Houston maintained their 2 game lead over San Diego in the National League West. The Astros [u:e0d5462301]defeated the Dodgers 2-1[/u:e0d5462301] behind Bob Knepper (17-11). The Padres used a seven run inning to [u:e0d5462301]overpower the Atlanta Braves 8-5[/u:e0d5462301]. Padres outfielder Kevin McReynolds hurt his MVP chances by making 2 outs in the big inning, leading off & finishing the inning with outs.
