In Game 136, his previous start before the streak started, Culp pitched scoreless 7th and 8th innings, and in Game 160, he pitched four scoreless innings before being scored upon in the fifth inning. Thus, Culp reeled off a string of 42 consecutive scoreless innings during this stretch.
In this particular league (two team league, whose regular season just concluded Friday, 6/28), Culp finished with a 2.19 E.R.A., second only to "Sudden" Sam McDowell.
