No DH league - How important is a bullpen?

Postby Eddie E » Fri Mar 03, 2006 6:10 pm

I played in a DH league and my bullpen was really needed since I had some decent S7, S8 and S9 starting Pitchers. I wonder what HAL will do to my bullpen when the pitcher comes up to hit in the sixth or seventh inning of a close game. Any experience out there?

he will pinch hit....almost every time .. you can control it slightly sometimes.... but if its a non dh league you need more bullpen

In a no DH - I have a bullpen of (1st 69 for me):

Rooker (spot starter, but got him to be "the man" in the pen)
Lyle
Lindblad
Abernathy
Osinski
Geishert

I'm hoping HAL will give a lot of innings to Rooker and Abernathy, some to Lyle, and the others only in specialty situations.

I also want 3 of my starters (Koosman, Seaver, Odom) to go very deep (past the 7th). [b:49c3b2c1cd]If I have even a small lead, will HAL leave someone in who is pitching well?[/b:49c3b2c1cd]

I don't see a problem if HAL pinch hits when you are down by a run, even in the 7th.

HAL tends to pinch hit for your pitchers no matter what. Which is a pain when you have a great hitting pitcher (like Odom) due up and HAL yanks him for some hitter who is actually worse, if TSN is indeed using all 8 pitcher hitting cards. Only way to stop HAL from doing that is to join a DH league.
