Just looking at that reminds me of some of the great names in baseball.

Mayo Smith

Red Shoendienst

Gil Hodges

You don't see that too often anymore..

And to go along with that, being that I am 26 yrs old. The first time I saw Mike Epstein's card, and it had the name Mike Superjew Epstein on it was pretty cool. Today that might be considered insensative to have that nickname.

Sorry but I have to stray a bit....

Speaking of names you don't see any more...how about Dick? Nobody names their son Dick anymore. For that matter nobody ever named their daughter Tits....I wonder why?

As I remember it, Epstein named himself "Superjew". It was considered
bizarre even back in the 60's.

I grew up a Senators fan in the 60s and we definitely thought Epstein's nickname was bizarre. His card is a whole lot better than I remembered him being that year. And Eddie Brinkman (who in my memory always seemed to hit around .200 or below) actually hit .260! Only Frank Howard's card of the Senators matches my memory of his performance that year. :D

Alas, boys are not named Dick anymore. But they are still named Richard and how in the world can someone named Richard have Dick as a nickname? Anytime I see someone with the name Richard I immediately think what their name would be if it were Dick. The name generally becomes suitable for a porn star.

A guy named Richard Justice tried to sell me a car once and there's a DJ on Sirius Radio named Richard Blade.

My wife and I were talking about a similar topic with our friend (a guy) who doesn't know jack about sports. My wife mentioned Dick Butkus, and our friend cracked up as he couldn't believe that "Dick Butt-kiss" was a tough football player, instead of a gay porn star.

And of course, if you were Richard Jr.... then you would be a little.............

I have a friend that falls under this category, and when he gets on my bad side, I remind him of this problem.

He goes by his middle name btw.

LMAO
