Most under-priced players?

Our historical single season sets

Though Terry Pendleton is not a great hitter, he can provide a little slappy hitting versus lefties, and in a system that heavily rewards defense, a 1 at third base for .67 is a deal to me.
I also think that Jim Presley (a 2 at 3b) with his great clutch hitting is an ideal platoon man for a very reasonable price. Though I have yet to implement it, I think you could pair Presley up with a one of a few guys and get better production overall from them for under $5 than most of the 3B priced over 3B.

I have to agree with the Pendleton assessment; at $670,000 he is a good value defensive player. Don't forget he is rated 'a' for stealing and a 'b' for both bunting and hit & run so is able to bring strategy to the discussion also.

Alvaro Espinoza? Singles can be a good thing. Bob Dernier also seems to be platoonable.

Just gotta hope HAL reads "avoid RHP" as "never, ever let him get near the batter's box when there's a righty on the mound."

How about Danny Cox, Gary Ward or Rickey Henderson.

Tom Lawless is only .50, is a AA SB, and has a great OBP against lefties.

I'll second Lawless. He's a freak. Not the world's greatest fielder however. In general, I think hitters have been pretty accurately priced but the pricing of pitchers is wacky.

Brett Butler appears a good value at sub-4M. We will update at season's end. 8-)

Also Lonnie Smith should make an excellent DH.

Larkin

Postby cymaddux31 » Tue Mar 11, 2008 3:34 am

[quote:35c24f9a10="River Field View"]I will echo the Tommy John setiment.

Barry Larkin looks like more than a $2 million card, but maybe I am missing some of his flaws, or maybe its just that high quality middle infielders are in short supply. Dickie Thon also seems cheap at $1.3 mill, even with a 2 injury rating. But seeing their cards makes me more motivated not to go cheap at ss.[/quote:35c24f9a10]

Larkin is just under 2 mil already, WTF are you talking about?

Pendelton/Chambliss/cox

Postby RICHARDMILTER » Tue Mar 11, 2008 3:49 pm

Pendelton struck me right away. Compare him and his price to Dicky Scholfield at over 5 million. Granted Dicky is a 1 at SS. But Pendleton is a 1 at 3B and an A stealer for 670,000, WOW! I think Danny Cox is under priced. Chris Chambliss is a bargain! There are others!

Some of the most over priced are Charlie Hough,Von Hayes(because he plays so many positions they charge more),Lee Mazelli(not much power, not much anything, except walks),Greg Swindell, and I am sure you all know there are many others! Keep the lists coming!
