ANY non-reserved player can be selected. As long as they are not on the 12 player reserve list for each franchise they will be fair game!

DIVISION ALIGNMENT

Postby GFDWARF07 » Sat Jan 16, 2010 9:31 pm

Divisions will be based on draft position

East
Picks 1, 4, 7, 10

Central
Picks 2, 5, 8, 11

West
Picks 3, 6, 9, 12

So we will not know our division assignments until we see where the draft order falls.

Boooo! Make divisions based on the actual divisions in 1969! Assuming the Cubbies are picked, there should be a Cubs-Mets division rivalry. The Red Sox deserve to be defeated by the better pitching and fielding of the O's.

As far as divisions go I like the idea of randomness based on the total salary of our 12 keepers. As far as the O's go....it will be interesting to see which players Rjnewman decides to use and which ones he can't afford to use. And yes my Red Sox will be looking for some FA pitching help for sure!

Misquote - those were franky's words, not mine. Though I like the historical significance of aligned divisions, let's face it - you can only get so accurate with a 12 team league. Unless the majority protest, we will keep the divisions random, as suggested by me and LMB. That is most fair in my eyes.

Some VERY interesting franchises left!

Washington - the clout of Hondo, Epstein, etc.

LA - incredible pitching and decent bats at a few positions

Cubbies - Nice balance of power and pitching

Houston - Very good pitching and some nice hitters in Wynn, etc.

Atlanta - Niekro, Aaron, Carty, Cepeda, etc. - great base of players

Detroit - a year after winning it all in '68 - excellent balance across the board

Oakland - a dominant Reggie and a good supporting cast

And lest we forget, I remember ldanred winning with the Expos in a format not too dissimilar a few seasons back! Almost any franchise can be competetive in this format.
