[quote:d4f0944e32]I am good with your rules, Franky, was just wondering out loud. So in drafting FA's you can only spend the (100-team payroll) that is the element I was missing. I was worried the Orioles owner for example could still draft Johnny Bench to catch and Dierker to picth, then just drop others like Merv.

Your rule is good - now, let's get some sign-ups!

Dan,
I'm glad you clarified that. Take the Orioles for an example. The O's have up to 5.84 mil to spend in the draft. So, let's say that the O's draft Rusty Staub with their first pick. Staub's salary is 5.47 mil. So, the O's draft would be over after that one pick. Alternatively, if the O's think small, they could draft 11 0.5 mil players; however, only 25 players can fit on the autodraft card - so they would be leaving a lot of players open to free agency.

Teams can only draft as long as their money holds out. Then, their draft is over, even though the draft continues for teams with cash to spend. However, you can only protect 25 players (the 10 pitchers and 15 hitters on your autodraft card); so there isn't really any point in drafting more players than you can put on the autodraft card.

Trading is legal anytime, but you can't trade stadiums, and trading does not affect team salary for divisions or drafting.

With these rules, I think that the draft should run quickly and, once the season starts, there won't be any rules to remember because HAL will enforce the usual rules.

Postby Rjnewman » Thu Mar 17, 2011 7:36 pm

Is there a waivers period that establishes when you can drop and add on first come first serve basis after draft? Or will it be established in some other way?Did anybody figure out iif somdraft.com is still working?

The waivers is exactly the same as the normal waiver process. After the autodraft, you have a 2 day waiver period to line up your free agent picks and then HAL runs the waiver process. After that, it is first-come first served.

I don't know about som.draft. The draft for this league will be relatively short and will be on the message board.

I'll take Cincy. the object for them is to hit the ball, not necessarily throw it, catch it or pick it up.
