no teams should have to cut any existing players on their roster. lets make the cap equal to the highest team in the league and the other teams can draft extra payers until either their roster is full or the max out.

pirates roster:
taylor
may
alley
pagan
over $10,000,000
are all on the bench so the team suffers under a roster cap by having valuable players that won't be used

Wow, weeks passed with out a post, and in one afternoon we've filled several pages.

I am in favor of having the as many players from your team as possible, and Only filling in with a FA to meet the roster requirements.

Another suggestion is to have each manager post his purposed roster and changes, and get it reviewed by the other managers.

With that said, I am going to enter the east.

Understand your predicament, hans. You need to go back and read what Pelzer said about this league. I doubt we're going to change from the 60mil format, which was set to create league balance, so plan accordingly.

The SF Giants roster has 26 players, 10 pitchers and 16 hitters, and a total salary of 70.15mil

I plan to play with a 25 man roster, 9 pitches and 16 hitters, all SF Giants. To meet the cap, I will drop Marichal, and will have 1.43m in cash.

yes, but you need 10P and 15H to autodraft

My vote is that the Cubs should be allowed to add a catcher (up to 0.99 mil) and no one else is allowed to have any player that is not on their team. This is because (1) at the time the Cubs were selected it looked like the rules allowed a catcher up to 1 mil (same as a SP for Cal which wasn't picked) and (2) then we would be replaying the 69 season as it was except reduced to a 60 mil cap for league fairness.

If the Cards owner loves the old Cards, then I would vote to allow the Cards to add only one player (0.99 or less) to replace one high salary player and get under the cap. Or the Cards owner could select another NL franchise (such as LA or Atl).

I'll go along with any system as long as the rules are clear.

This makes sense
The Cubs do need to add an SP in addition to a C, they only have 4, 3 with *

right, I missed that Cubs have only 4 SP. Anybody know what happened in 69 that they had so few starters?

Like I said, what I wrote was my planned roster.
As for the draft, I left off Marichal, and subbed McCool on SD.
And I did not put Marshall on my list. After the draft, I will drop McCool, leaving with the 9 p. and pick up Marshall, giving me 16 batters.
