Remember that you can pick your stadium at ANY TIME during this draft. You do not have to wait for the last round.

Nice pick with Morgan in the 10th round. I don't know how he lasted that long. And with your strong defense, he won't kill you in LF.

LF? I'm sure he is thinking about DH for him.

Actually, I was a little shocked when I saw Morgan was still available, and grabbed him mostly because he was the best Houston Astro representative available. At the moment he will likely be my DH, although it's possible that I might use him for trade bait later on.

Both Carlos May and Joe Morgan are 4s in LF, but May has the slightly better throwing arm (+1 as opposed to +3), so I doubt that I'll use JM in the field.

Turn it to (Round) 11...

Postby Risden » Thu Jul 17, 2008 11:40 am

Sorry for my 30-minute delay in starting Round 11.

I did have two proxies set: Bobby Tolan and Tito Francona, but both were taken right before my back-to-back picks for Round 10 and Round 11. :x

May Day! May Day!

Postby kenhutchings » Thu Jul 17, 2008 5:03 pm

So far I've drafted Carlos May and Rudy May. Jerry May is available, but since he's on the Pirates, I'd have to give up Clemente to get him, and there's no way in H E double hockey sticks that I'm going to do that. I can still get Dave May, if I want him to be my Baltimore Oriole representative.

This reminds me of a really dumb joke:

If April showers bring May flowers, then what do May flowers bring?

Answer: PILGRIMS.

"btw i have a red beard " makes sense Dan Red
I had a red beard and mustache (kind of more white now)
But someone told me Roberts (son of Robert) was derived from Rouse Bard. Not sure it is true, but since I had a last name Roberts and a reddish beard I went with Red Beards for computer names and teams.

[quote:d2486b537f]It looks like we'll stop for awhile - we are up to Pick 105 (StoneWalled), but I believe that he advised his presence would be dependent on a seminar...[/quote:d2486b537f]

30 minutes is all we delayed. You don't have to worry about a pause usually at my spot. If I am not going to be around a computer for more than 1-2 hours then I set enough proxies to get me by until I can check in.

By the way I see a few comments about the time limit. I was the one mentioning it in a few posts yesterday so I guess I would like to explain my thinking. In the 1 live draft I did before this we had a time limit. I thought and still think it is a good idea. I think 3-4 hours is plenty of time to either check in or set enough proxies to keep it rolling.

Most people are probably not busier than I am, I do have a few techy things to help me keep an eye online than maybe some people have.

The proxies are a great tool to keep things going between the time someone is away from the computer. Even if it is a full day, setting 10 proxies is not ideal but I don't want to make 11 other people keep checking in on a continuous basis to see if they are up yet.

Since this is only my second live draft I may be a little impatient but with proxies I just don't see how someone can know they are in a live draft with 11 other people and be away from the computer for an extended period of time without making sure they have enough proxies in place to get by. I guess at the very least it would be nice if people take a minute on the board to mention if they will be away from the computer like some of us have during this draft.

I will just say this, if it ever goes more than 3 hours while I'm on the clock I authorize next player to draft and keep things going as a courtesy to everyone else.

Good luck the rest of the way out everyone!!

I have absolutely no idea how my team is gonna stack up. This season is either gonna be real fun as I learn 1969 set or long and painfull!!!

ldanred needs to drop Dean Chance ASAP as he already took a Minnesota player in Tony Oliva. Dean let us know when you drop him as you will need one of us to approve the drop. Once you do that you can repick at any time.

Long Drive

Postby JOHNEIGENAUER » Thu Jul 17, 2008 9:22 pm

Guys

I will be on the road for 3.5-4 hours on Friday morning. I will make sure that my picks and proxies are in order before I leave (8 AM Pacific Time). One I arrive, I'll do it again. However, this weekend (FRI SAT SUN) will be very difficult because I work 13 hour days each day. I'll be escaping for Internet access AND I will do proxies EVERY chance I get. My apologies in advance if I slow things down.
