Hey, maybe I screwed up on my spreadsheet?....

But if we have to stick to the 80M cap for the 25 players we pick here and the autodraft, I have RJ already over even if he picks nothing but .50m players the rest of the way?

Anybody else have that?

Since lots of teams will be seeking out .50m guys at the end of this draft, and especially with it being an AUTODRAFT for the last 3 spots, I don't think we can do the old "draft over and manipulate the roster after the draft".

Maybe my sheet is screwed up...????? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?

We all should be drafting so that we can fill out a 25 player AD card (with the players we draft) that does not exceed 80M.

Where is Gordie Howe? In the penalty box? :P

Hi RJ,

Yes (re: the allowance to drop to 24 players), but that's AFTER the autodraft has run.

In some cases when we draft our entire team on the draft sites, we can allow for only 24 players to be picked and you can just add a "dummy player".

But when you have other teams still filling out their rosters with the remaining three spots that you MUST fill and stay under 80M (otherwise the SOM software won't accept it), you might be trying to utilize players that other team owners may be wanting to draft.

As I said in the other example, it's different when everybody has completed their drafting.

I'm posting this on the board to see what other people think, but I believe everybody needs to stay at a max of 80M and 25 players until AFTER the autodraft is run.

At that point, THEN you can manipulate your roster down to 24 players and use free agents to make it work how you like.

That's how I interpret how it needs to work.

So Rjnewman needs to immediately drop the last drafted player he took that put him over the cap right?

So if RJ needs to change his last pick he can - to enable 25 man $80M roster compliance. Just please do it before anyone else picks - my pick in between will not have any impact.

I remember being skinned alive on this same issue in another league. But in this case the league will be set up as an 80M so you simply cannot draft if you are over the limit, so it's even more clear.

roster size in draft

Postby Rjnewman » Wed Jan 27, 2010 11:59 am

I specifically kept whom I kept and have been drafting in compliance with stratomatic standard roster size in frequently asked questions as my strategy while carefully maximizing my available cap. I asked this question before draft as you can see. Since it will mean at 500K difference I suggest we let it slide and I will take my last player at the conclusion of draft so as to not take anybody else's choice as a compromise. Thread wth GDWARF follows that I thought answered my question.

No, only the cap limit and standard rules from the '69 game.
