[quote:67f13e5e16="franky35"]No, it only counts against pwootten's cap (for Millan).

Roster players don't count, but all drafted players count against the team that they end up with (not necessarily the team that drafted them). We have beaten that horse to death.[/quote:67f13e5e16]

OK - I gave up trying to understand.

So Popovich gets traded for McCovey and then Popvich gets traded back. Popovich isn't [i:67f13e5e16]really [/i:67f13e5e16]a rostered player of the Cubbies anymore.

McCovey is the biggest bargain since Manhattan was sold to the Dutch.

I respectfully disagree. I have essentially swapped McCovey for a draft pick that became Cleon Jones and Felix Millan. I have filled two positions for that trade. I'm happy. Don't be critical.

1969 is a tough room to work. I remember it being the year of love and peace.

I am offering Joe Morgan to any team that wants him - in exchange, I need a decent $4-5 Mill pitcher and/or a good $2-3 Mill catcher.

I'll wait for any potential offers before making my next pick.

[quote:f2b97f73e9]Little Joe won't cost any cap room if you get him in a trade.

This is wrong. Morgan is a drafted player, not a rostered player. Drafted players count against the cap of whatever team they end up with.

As you may recall, I traded my first round pick (#3 overall) plus Popovich for McCovey (the first player drafted). There was a lot of discussion about whether McCovey counts against pwootten's cap or my cap. After some discussion, the commissioner (me) ruled that McCovey counts against my cap. If I trade McCovey, we would count against the cap of the team I traded him to. The same applies to Morgan.

Within these rules, you can work trades with whoever you want. I like making trades - I think it is fun. Other owners don't like to trade so much.

When I traded away Popovich there was a big uproar that Popovich stinks and that pwootten was being taken advantage of. Now, I trade a pick that became Millan straight up for Popovich. Now Popovich is the greatest player since Nap Lajoie and, again, I am ripping off someone.

It just isn't true. The same rules apply to everyone - that is the definition of fairness.

The marketplace says this isn't true. I have tried to trade McCovey to a couple owners. No bites. He is still available in the right trade, but he counts 13.35 mil against the cap and that has scared away interest in him.

Number of trade offers I have received for McCovey = zero.

trade was unfair because 4 million in cap saved

before your rule change. Popovich was just bad relative to original trade. Millan part is legit.
