NL Only League / 60 mil Cap & Live Draft

Our historical single season sets

In keeping with the 1969 theme, the Grateful Dead has now joined the Central.

The teams success is quite questionable, but the loyalty of its hordes of deadhead fans packing road stadiums will not be :D

Interesting comments... With the limited number of players, it's definitely going to get pretty hairy. :P That's one of the things I like about this kind of format - you've got to get very creative. There's going to be some very screwy looking teams (like mine for instance! ) - it should be a challenge... 8)

I have read everyone's comments and UNDERSTAND where everyone is coming from but it still seems to nullify the art of a live draft when you can't necessarily keep the team you tried to create...it really makes no sense to me.....IF you had a full 25 round draft, you would be able to do that because there is a block of picking up players on Penn's site that would not let you go over the cap so you could draft accordingly...
Here you are leaving it up to an AUTODRAFT making it very hard to create your team appropriately....we will see how it turns out...should be interesting to say the least

Sneezedoc,

What I don't think you understand is that a 25 round live draft would not cure this problem. If I have spent to much early and the pool of cheap pitchers dries up before I have gotten enough of them, I now have only budgeted $.50 for a pitcher slot when the lowest priced pitcher is say $2 mil (Penn's draft site will not prevent this from happening). I can tell you from experience this does happen.

A live draft might ensure that these .50 pitchers are spread a bit more evenly and ensures no one owner gets really screwed by not getting any, but in the end if there are not enough .50 pitchers to go around in an autodraft, then holding a live draft doesn't somehow change that pool of pitchers. My guess is that ranking under $1 mil pitchers will be a priority on everyone's draft list and then the top waiver wire picks will be to draft those $.50 NL'ers that slipped through the cracks.

$60M is tough anywhere but with only 12 teams to pick from and 12 managers picking it becomes even tougher. My team is either going to be competitive or a real 100+ game loser. There will be no in-between. I would have rather had a 16 round draft with a stadium as part of the draft.

sounds like most of us would like to draft more rounds...is the impetus enough to unjoin and add rounds? the other problem is becoming the last half of the league to enter now has advanced strategizing for those cheapos, and may rank them differently than they might have otherwise. I suspect with this many vets, we'l manage somehow, but if some of us get an inordinate amount of a.l. subs in the autodraft, it could be an unfixable dilema. all the more reason to get this thing loaded so we can atleast all be at a similar disadvantage.

My 2 cents...

Load em up and fix your teams afterwards. If you need to drop or trade to get a legal roster, then so be it.

For those who overspent, sounds like you will need to make trades to make some cap space.

I am very much against un-joining a league to continuing to draft. I proxied my players all while away and left myself room to play around with. I find it unacceptable to punish those who prepared their salary properly.

Let's just load up the teams and see where it takes us.....it's only a 25 buck experiment...I just felt I should address some points that some of you seem to agree with me are legitime concerns

as we used to say at SIU, LET'S GET LOADED! where is everybody. c'mon, there's no excuse for this league not being filled and autodraft run TONIGHT, so we can start cleaning up after the flood. whoever's missing from the central, get ye butt in, and west get er dun, and let's see what wonderful presents HAL has waiting for us on our front lawn. :P
