Re: An Example from my team

[quote:d10d0e8c2f="KnightErrant"]I am planning on leaving Gary Gentry available for rounds 3 & 4 because I won't need him as a starter and I want to preserve the $6 million he would cost to pick up position players the Mets/Dodgers are weak at. So, if one of the other teams want Gentry he can draft him and I lose rights to him.

My understanding is, simply,
1) I protect [b:d10d0e8c2f]15-20[/b:d10d0e8c2f] players from the Mets and [b:d10d0e8c2f]EXACTLY 5[/b:d10d0e8c2f] (no more/no less) from the Dodgers
2) if I don't protect a player he is available to everyone for drafting in rounds 3 & 4 [i:d10d0e8c2f](so, if I don't include Bill Singer among my 5 protected Dodgers, someone else is sure to grab him)[/i:d10d0e8c2f]
3) the 25 players we protect and draft make up the Draft List for the game and, hence, [b:d10d0e8c2f]must be[/b:d10d0e8c2f] 10 pitchers and 15 position players and [b:d10d0e8c2f]cannot exceed[/b:d10d0e8c2f] $100,000,000.

Anyhow, that is my understanding.

P.S. I'm not giving away any secret plans writing about Gentry. Anyone looking at my two teams would realize that Gentry is a waste of money. And, I'm going to protect Singer, so don't hold out hope. :P[/quote:d10d0e8c2f]

I concur with KnightErrant's logic and example. It's always best to use real-life examples so that we can all follow along.

OK, just to be clear so we are all playing by the same rules. Each owner must draft the 25 players they protect. Correct?

So, we must protect 10 pitchers (including 5 that can relieve and 5 that can start), and 15 hitters (including at least 2 that can catch).
And these 25 players must fit under the 100 mil cap.

That was a suggestion I made, don't intend to set "policy" without group concurrence....

No one has disagreed that I know of, though.

Pardon the Interruption

Tom is done once he finds a park; "genegrid" on deck.

And with the 1st pick in the 2007 N-F-L draft the SD Chargers select ... Brady Quinn, QB, Notre dame. The Denver Bronocs are on the clock...

Stick with 100 mil. I don't think we should change the rules now.

Okay ... Comiskey. Interesting challenge trying to tailor a team to a park with these slim pickins. I'd probably do better at Williamsport!

IF anybody is interested in Kirkpatrick, I'll listen to offers. Nice LH bat in a power park. Tichinski or Rosebor also potentially available.

If we PM em in then we don't know what free agents are readily available & must scan a lengthy list.

If Bob Risden is to post em here fine better than sending a file ... don't have Excel.

"genegrid" you're up pal.
