Initial Observations

Our historical single season sets

I have to agree with Vince. I'm in the same league, and I still have $5.4 million left, no room on the roster, and nobody on the waiver wire is worth dropping a player on my current roster. I guess I'll just have to save the money and use it to pick up replacements off of waivers for injured players during the season (in effect, using the waiver wire as a farm system).

I'm enjoying 69. I see alot of positives. I like it because the pool is shallow and there are weak spots. I like the fact that strong pitching can balance some spotty D. I like the fact that some otherwise dubious talents can be very effective in the nice variety of stadiums we have. Plenty of good platoon options to tinker with. I like the increased effectivness of speed/running.

I do have to admit that I'm in 1st place in both of my leagues so far. This is rare for me but I'm sure it's mostly due to the fact the Visick is one of my divisons.

I, too, em enjoying '69. My best draft pick was Shamsky. to platoon with Parker at 1B. He's near the league lead in almost every offensive category, including HRs and RBIs as a part-time player. Santo is also strong at 3B. True, a lot of platoons ... but a lot of good platoon-type players, too.

Two of my teams are franchise theme leagues. That may be the most interesting way to play this season because there were so many teams that were nearly even in talent ... except for Baltimore. Allowing extra cap room for FAs helps other teams to close that gap.
