By the way, I was at Target Field with my oldest daughter last Monday for a game against Boston and met Tony Oliva again and got him to autograph my '74 Met Stadium home run ball (I got this when I was ten - it was from May 25, 1974). Most of you have heard that story. He was once again very nice. He also autographed the Oliva jersey I was wearing that day. If I can figure out how, I will post a photo of him and I with him signing the ball. My daughter was happy to meet him too, but more thrilled to see Ellen Degeneres at the game too, about 20 feet from us.

This is really interesting. I'm going to think about it. Don't know how Diamond Dope works. Does everyone have to be on at the same time to draft?

No, in fact, no one needs to be on at the same time. You can check in and make your pick; however, it works better when you use proxies - then the computer selects the next player on your list of proxies and you don't need to be on line. There is no time limit for round 1 - so it usually takes a couple days to complete. After that, we set a time limit (3 hours for example) for each pick. Since most people use proxies, the draft runs quite quickly and we can be done in about a week.

You can kind of scope things out at www.diamonddope.com

Enough votes are in. Diamond Dope is the unanimous choice for the draft.

And the newest addition to the Hall of Shame (uh, I mean the infamous hall, uh I mean jail, uh Hall of Fame? really?) is Barry Bonds, I mean Mark Mcgwire, no Joe Jackson, Al Capone - no, no, no . . . we are "proud" to announce Pete Rose has been elected to be among the 36 HOFers that will be drafted before the rest of the league in this Hall of Fame theme league.

His gambling was deffinately a bad thing but he is the all-time hits leader and very few played the game to win any harder or with more desire than Rose did. So many players today half heartedly amble towards 1B on a grounder and the expected out. Rose sprinted to first even on a walk or HBP.

He never was a favorite player of mine (I'm a Red Sox fan) but I do admire the way he played the game.
