1969 LIVE DRAFT 100 MIL DH LEAGUE - LEAGUE CHAT

Our historical single season sets

Postby johnlaw1564 » Fri Dec 14, 2007 2:19 pm

All right guys! The week in Cancun was nice, but it took a while to get caught up. Rough week for the Cowboy. 15 game injury to Cleon Jones, and Rich Reese and Rusty Staub go down as well. Looks like franky35 and risden have the top teams (check out their run differential!). Anyway, I hope I can hang in there while Cleon gets healthy! Started a new league draft thread that won't start until after the new year. J Law

Dec 12 recap was nice, John, but subtle, as in "restrained" or "understated" - that's what I paid you for...

Sorry ugrant - the note you sent with the check was waterstained! I thought it said - SUBSTANTIAL ("reiteriate" & "undoubted"). We'll get it right with the next payment.

Thanks, John, and sorry - next payment will be better packaged.

Onward with the (subtle) ugrant aggrandizement and myth building!

Mid Season Stats

Postby JOHNEIGENAUER » Sun Dec 16, 2007 12:57 am

At the 81 game mark, there have been some pretty remarkable achievements. Cowboy's TEAM is hitting .295, which would place it second on the all time list. Larry Dierker is on pace to win 30 (which would tie his own record). Reggie Jackson is on pace to score 172 runs and drive in 166... yet he is currently SECOND in MVP voting! Bobby Bonds is on pace to strike out 202 times, which doesn't come close to his record of 234. And speaking of strikeouts, Sam McDowell could break his record of 350 Ks... he is on pace for 366, which is pretty impressive in a DH league. Can both Osteen and Dierker (17 complete games each) reach the record of 33? Bill Singer's 199 hits allowed puts him in the running to break Fergie Jenkins' record of 375. And could it be possible that six different pitchers have a shot at the all time earned runs allowed record? Could Mike Cuellar SHATTER that record (169 by Grant Jackson)? He currently has allowed 99!

There are some impressive numbers at the half way point. None of these will be eligible for the record books though (80 mil cap only)!

DEC 14 - "1969 VIRGINS NIGHTLY HIGHLIGHTLY"

Hank Aaron went 4-4 with 3 homeruns and scored 4 times as the Orlando Yankees defeated the Woodstock Outhouses III by the score of 12 to 3 at RFK Stadium. Aaron enjoyed a great day at the plate. He hit solo shots in the 2nd, 3rd and 6th innings and added a double in the 7th inning. Yankees manager John Rossiter said, "Hank has been scuffling a little bit. We expect more out of him and maybe this will really get him going!"

DEC 15 - "1969 VIRGINS NIGHTLY HIGHLIGHTLY"

The Bakersfield BigRedMachine05 ripped 8 homeruns as they beat the Analysis Paralysis by a score of 13 to 7. Boog Powell provided much of the offense. He blasted solo shots in the 1st and 3rd innings, doubled resulting in a run in the 5th inning, lined a single in the 7th inning and cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his 17th of the season) in the 8th inning. "Man, we were on fire in this game!," said manager John Eigenauer. "Lee May had two jacks, Tony Perez had two, and Big Booger goes 5-5 with 7 RBI's. And most of the damage came against Denny McLain. And as you know, he's no slouch!"

DEC 16 - "1969 VIRGINS NIGHTLY HIGHLIGHTLY"

Brant Alyea launched 3 homeruns but it wasn't enough for Woodstock as The Munich Schlagmeisters topped the Woodstock Outhouses III 7 to 6 in front of 40,436 fans at Metropolitan Stadium. "This was a must win for us", said Schlagmeister G.M. Munich Man. "The big key for us was keeping Harmon Killebrew from slamming home runs! He killed us in the first two games of the series with 4 home runs. I don't like being in last place and maybe this win will give us some momentum. We need to make up some ground during our current nine game homestand!"

Just 9 ribbies...

Somehow, Sal Bando's 3 HRs and 9 RBIs got over shadowed!
