1969 AUCTION LEAGUE - BIDDING ONLY

Our historical single season sets

getting started

Postby franky35 » Mon Mar 15, 2010 12:57 pm

not that its urgent, but Sneeze or Brandon could set up the league whenever they are ready.

Since timboy is nearly a lock to get Ken Berry, that leaves only Risden, getowt, rj, and gorshar with multiple players to draft. If no one is going to overbid Ken Berry, then I suggest that getowt and gorshar go ahead now and make 1 bid each.

Blue light specials for eveyone!

Fellas-
I created the league "Prehistoric Roto" (It's the only private league of 1969 forming)
The password is baseball (all small letters)
Furthermore it is "advanced" (50 points for winner) and frenzy (but there are no moves being made)

See you all on the other side!

Ed Stroud - 0.5

Agree, these auctions are a blast. Is there any interest in a 2009 auction? I have a few takers already from our 2008 league.

I think the auctions are great fun and best of all really stretch out the enjoyment per credit. I would like to do a second round 1969 auction to start perhaps sometime near the end of the season for this first one. Would be fun to come up with some new twists too. Post ideas here and we can keep track.

Thanks all for participating!

I also am happy to report that I had the 28 staples removed from my stomach today, representing some progress in the recovery from my surgery. In another five weeks I should be back to "normal". My prognosis is good. Thanks to all who have sent messages of concern!

Stroud - 0.7

We could always do a closed auction as we did in ATG5 recently, where bids are placed by PM.

klimchock signs

Fred Stanley .6

We could also allow keepers from this league in some fasion if we have all participants. Could allow number of keepers in reverse order of standings like bottom 4-5 keepers middle 4-4 keepers playoff teams 3 keepers. Keepers can only be at SOM salary or above. Could also limit number of bids each team could make on each player (say three) adding strategy and tension to anyone's third and final bid and speeding up draft a bit. Though doing this league over in exact same way would be fun as well.

I like both the keepers idea as well as the limited number of bids idea.

That said, I think we need a couple of nominations as there are only three hitters up at the moment.
