RAISE THE MOUND ATG VI - LEAGUE FORMED AND LOADING

Our historical single season sets

I would rather NOT wait 3 days to get started. It doesn't look like any huge name pitchers are going to be added. So far it's Ryan, Newhouser, Sullivan, and Rhoden and none of these look like top 30 pitcher cards (to me anyway).

I say we go ahead and start and make any cards added on 12/15 available as waiver claims.

And anyone who drafts the 4 mentioned CAN use their new cards since those 4 are known commodities. Anyone drafting a guy that later gets a card added is just considered lucky. this only applies to pitchers since no under $1M hitters are being added. Also, there are so many good pitcher cards already that it will probably not be much of a factor.

my thoughts, LET'S GET THIS STARTED, BABY!!!

I agree with Paul, that the new cards will likely not matter that much to this league since they will mostly not be in the <$1M range for position players. Bernie has added one or two pretty decent pitchers in each new batch, but there are lots of very good pitchers already available. The other side is that these diamond dope drafts can drag on pretty long anyway, unless everybody gets into setting proxies. And so waiting three days isn't such a big deal.

Bottom line, I can wait for the new cards, but am anxious to get it going.

i say we get started... Since the new cards will not be added to DD right away either. Could give a team that miss out on some guys a good starter in return.

Just my 2 cents.

Consensus seems to be now so I am good to go. I agree that the added cards are really a non factor. The player pool is so large that their impact will not have an effect if we start now.

New Cards

Postby GFDWARF07 » Mon Dec 12, 2011 7:05 pm

We will go ahead and get started now - no guarantee when DD will pick up the new cards anyway. I will get a draft order going and get the draft set up in DD.

The new cards will be available after the draft, via the AD or waivers, presuming we don't finish the draft and start the league before they are added, in which case they would not be available at all, but it will likely take us longer to draft. We will draft only based on the cards in DD to begin with.

Welcome to the new sign-ups and good luck to all!

sounds good. but....I still say you should make a ruling on the following.

If I draft Nolan Ryan on Diamond Dope, can I switch to his new card when it comes out on Thursday (or Newhouser or Rhoden etc...)

I'd say that if you draft the player on DD, then you can use the new card for that player, assuming that card fits within the league constraints.
