ALIGNED COMBO FRANCHISE LEAGUE - FRANCHISES ANALYZED

Our historical single season sets

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but I am missing any strong feelings toward changing it to a no FA/no trade league. Just started putting teams together, and I already see one team w/ a SS and 2B both under 1M. (certainly not a good sign in a 100M league)

I say allow trading and use of players.

If there is no trading or unused players, there are 5 teams starting either a SS/2B/CF at under 1M or a 4 def rating. Two teams w/ 50M in pitching... that they could trade to get position players.

i would agree with trading of players but not use of FA's that are not on one of your franchise teams --- vote yes to trading no to FA's.

but if you want to leave it as it is that is OK with me also

(no fa's, no trading)

I agree with Novie regarding trades, and I wonder if there could also be a rule allowing each team to use one non-franchise FA.

Just speaking from experience: I'm currently using the Astros as my base team in a league, and lemme tell ya, it is no fun to have a "3" at 2b, a "3" at Cf, and then be forced to use a 2e40 SS who bats .000 against RHP just so I can have a little range on defense. It makes for an interesting managerial challenge, but also sucks because you're kind of doomed right out of the gate. The more flexibility to even things up, the better.

there will be NO non-franchised FA's. All teams have been accounted for, 24 in 1969.

Lets go with NO FA's.

Regarding Trading:

1) Allow Trading with no requirements

2) Set up a committee of 3 and have them move players around to balance COMBO FRANCHISES.

3) Make a rule that managers can't have a Franchise Player of more than $$$ ? salary not being used and then a draft. I would propose that certain limits be applied.

I like #1 - BUT - you cannot have any player on your team from a another team UNLESS you traded for him. Maybe (like Selig) three team owners that have to approve each trade - BUT - I think the players here are good enuf that no one will be taken advantage of

#1 is fine w/ me.... at least those that pull #8-12 will have somewhat of a chance to create a roster.

Hopefully, people will be a little more open to trading than usual.

I promise I will be open to moves.
