NOTES TO MANAGERS

Postby rschwartz51 » Sat Jun 03, 2006 10:01 am

I used the 1st week as a consensus thought it was an important part of the Theme to begin on the 1st week.

I maintained the the concept of the lowest 4 records getting 3 picks followed by 2 picks for the next lowest records, etc. in order to keep the Saturday Draft much easier for managers to time as there were a number of late joining managers having issues on Saturday.

As a compromise I put in the 1 player draft determined by lowest salary cap by franchise which follows the initial drafting of Franchises. This will help balance out the chosen 12 franchises and make sandbagging the first week a bit more risky as the quality of free agents will be significantly reduced though still a factor in helping lower quality teams.

All in all, I still think it is full of strategy on how you select your franchises as to does well. The top Franchises in order of salary will be high in the draft order for the initial Stud plus they likely will not be in the low rounds of the first few weeks.

will divisions be randomly assigned or will teams enter the league in a specified order so that the top 4 picks will share a division?

CALL TO PRIOR ATG2 PICK A FRANCHISE MANAGERS

Postby rschwartz51 » Sat Jun 03, 2006 1:31 pm

Can someone remember what method was used for setting divisions. There probably is a better method than the standard 1,4,7,10. etc.

Bob, I think we did use the 1, 4, 7, 10 draft order in ATG2. We could do that or maybe group the teams by record - i.e. top 4 records in East, next 4 in Central, bottom 4 West. If you do that, probably want to set a tie-breaker in case 2 teams have the same record (I didn't look at each teams record so I don't know if this could happen or not). I guess another option would be to set the teams up geographically somehow, although that could be problematic depending on how everyone drafts.

Anyway is OK by me. However, you should make a ruling on it before we draft teams.

Since we are only drafting 1 franchise, I noticed that for several teams, you will not be able to fill out a full draft card.

I.E. -
Cubs - they only have 1 catcher on their team and 9 pitchers. The draft card requires 2 catchers and 10 pitchers.
Braves - they only have 9 pitchers. The draft card requires 10 pitchers.

I suggest that for these cicumstances, you just draft a $.5M player to fill out your card, then immediately cut those players after the auto draft and pick up another player from your franchise.

The only other option would be that you would be required to draft a player in the one round draft to fill out the autodraft card. That wouldn't even work in the case of the Cubs. That doesn't seem to make much sense unless you want to penalize someone for taking a franchise which would not meet the autodraft requirements.

Ado Jake Response

Postby rschwartz51 » Sat Jun 03, 2006 6:21 pm

I propose that when we do our 2nd stage draft, that is when we draft a Rd for an individual player following the Franchise draft we allow each team to draft players < $1M at the same time as many players as to meet Draft Card rules. You have to list everyone on your Franchise but you get to have 25 players.

I would allow everyone 2 picks and if a Franchise has more than 23 players you can drop a franchise player.

Angels only have 4 starting pitchers you need 5 for draft card
Orioles only have 13 hitters
Red Sox only have 14 hitters
Cubs only have 9 pitchers (4 starters) and 14 hitters (only 1 catcher)
White Sox fulfil draft card requirments
Reds same as White Sox
Indians only 9 pitchers
Tigers meet requirements
Astros meet requirements
Royals meet requirements
Dodgers meet requirements
Twins meet requirements
Expos meet requirements
Mets meet requirements
Yankees only 9 pitchers
Athletics meet requirements
Phillies only have 13 hitters
Pirates only have 9 pitchers
Padres meet requirements
Pilots meet requirements
Giants meet requirements
Cardinals only have 9 pitchers
senators meet requirements

So 9 teams do not meet TSN draft card rules as they currently exist.
