Rule Query

Postby KnightErrant » Sat Apr 21, 2007 12:27 pm

Are we required to [b:aadb3f2a04]maintain[/b:aadb3f2a04] at least 15 players from team A and 5 players from Team B through the waiver period and the season?

In other words, I can't draft a team full of Padres and then dump them during the waiver period for free agents - Yes/No?

$100M cap for 25

Postby pcbaseballsims » Sat Apr 21, 2007 12:32 pm

[quote:f4482dfc88="franky35"]Do we need to protect 25 players that will pass through the autodraft?

If so, then we need to calculate whether we are in under the 100 mil cap AND make sure that we have 10 pitchers and 15 hitters.[/quote:f4482dfc88]

Frankey,

I'm not listed as a "veteran" b/c I changed usernames and only joined forum last yr but have played TSN every yr, several x a yr, since it started in '02.

Youre right...this all gets confusing re: keeping so many guys under the $100M cap.

And I prefer to decide which 15-20 I keep off my 1st team from stats at BaseballReference.com and join TSN lg, pay $, AFTER we're completely done with draft so I can focus on my 2nd team, park and free agents, not trying to see how many guys I can get & stay below $100M ... it's confusing.

GeneGrid still hasn't picked yet? Is there a time limit?

Would be nice to get thru 1st rd today have 2nd team, park picking Sunday.

:)

It's really not as daunting as it seems...I'm in another 2-team theme with Bobscwhartz22 (trailing him in 2nd by 6 games). Very similar rules, and it's worked out great.

Easiest to buy a team now, and stat and salary research on the TSN site to see how you can manipulate to stay under the $100M cap.

A FEW MORE RESPONSES

Postby rschwartz51 » Sat Apr 21, 2007 12:59 pm

If there aren't many objections once the autodraft is run I'm fine with changing the past philosophy of having to keep a minimum number of players and opening it up to a Frenzy or waiting to a set time.

The Theme for those who may be participating in a 1969 COMBO THEME was adjusted and it may seem to be a bit more complicated but my reason for doing so was that I felt ( I've done well in these) that the teams drafting at certain spots in the draft were at a disadvantage and I was concerned there may be trouble attracting managers unless there was more equality no matter where you pick. By allowing only 5 players to be protected I'm hoping the teams at the bottom will have a better shot.

There is Trading in this Theme.

There was no Time Limit set and weekends are considered to be open unless agreed to in advance. Please be patient as this draft will start moving soon. You can proxy by picking anyone after you to send PM's to.

Bob,

Just to clarify, do we need to draft a team that can autodraft? Or can we pick up 0.5 mil free agents to autodraft and keep rights over protected players that aren't on our roster?

Your team that will be autodrafted will be after you have done the following:

1) From 1st Franchise drafted you protect 15-20 players
2) From 2nd Franchise drafted you have protected 5 players giving you 20 to 25 players.

3) You then complete your 25 man roster by chosing 0 to 3 FA's followed by the picking of 0 to 2 FA's. The number of FA's picked will depend on how many protected players you've selected.

Once you've completed your protected list and the draft as begun all non-protected players are eligible to be drafted as a FA and that FA can be drafted by their original team.

Once you've protected 20-25 players they're no longer your property.

Question about the frenzy

Postby centerfielder17 » Sat Apr 21, 2007 2:10 pm

Since the teams will be entered into the tsn engine no earlier than tommorrow (sun), the tsn engine will set up the teams and the frenzy will begin sometime in the middle of the night - during the work week - for us east coast guys.

Any chance we can switch to a regular waiver system (which in this case the order will be randomly chosen), so that we won't have to stay up half the night once this week to have a chance at undrafted fa's?

What do you think?

I don't want to use the waiver system for this. Since we protect 20 to 25 players and we fill our rosters to make a full team the FA's are a very minor part of the team.

I don't have anything against an alternative to the Frenzy just so that we can finish our teams this week with the leasy amount of distractions possible. The waiver system may be ok if we completed in the next day or so but with 4 rounds I'm not sure how long we're going to take.
