New League Ideas - 69 Challenge League Talk

Our historical single season sets

Postby STEPHENANDERSON 2 » Sun Feb 26, 2006 5:28 pm

In one theme league I was in where we picked 2 teams.... The Oakland Astros managed by gengrid beat the San Diego Orioles managed by socialchiro in 5 games. But, because of salary limitations, the Orioles did not have Cuellar and McNally won 20 games. I think Assmeritan was in that league. So, since Orioles were the first team drafted which mean they go the last team not good enuff to take 2 middle of the draft teams.

With 200 mil, the get the whole kitten kaboodle.

I still think the O's are the team to beat, but thats why Mr. HAL plays those games.

All I know I will be playing for position and prestige with the last last pick.

Maybe a bribe will move me up a couple or 4 slots.

 8)

I had the Boston Dodgers in that league. Lost the semi in 5 games to the Oakland Astros. My offense vanished in games 2 and 5. Game 2 lost 1 -0 on a based loaded walk and game 5 I got 1 hit.

Looking at weaknesses for each team, the only weakness I found for the Orioles is their home park, The Braves have 4 weaknesses with the DH for example. I know this because in the pick 12 league where every team has a chance I had second pick. Because that league cap is 80 mil I took the Braves. Only 3 teams with a higher salary cap than the Braves were drafted (Pirates, Twins, and Giants) left the Braves with only 2 Free agents, 1 of which had to be a pitcher. Went for Tatum and Apprachio in the draft, got Tatum, so for a SS had to pick up Bud Harrelson in waviers. That team is currently 7 and 11 after somehow sweeping 3 from the Senators last night. Was of course hoping for 4 FA so for the other 2 I could have gone for a CF like Blair, and then either a LF or a C. With Carty being the DH.

ill use the extra time to scout...if i believe some of the prognosticators, i need to stay out of the east unless I want to try and make it as a wildcard...if i believe catom, my fellow californian, i go ahead and try and beat the birds. then again, if pelzer DOES take the tigers...
i'd love to take my cubs, the '69 cubs being the reason i voted to re-produce this season, and the reason ive been a lifelong cubs fan, and that my heart is eternally broken...but i think they've made me suffer enough, and looking at these cards, i see why they didn't win that year!

Doesn't look like I will have a good pick. I was gone so you guys chose Idaho as my lottery state. You guys are like eerily psychic. How did you know? Now that I see Idaho lottery screwed me again, I think I would have chosen the Puerto Rican lottery. That would put me at #1. I will take the Orioles.

Anyway, should be fun. I guess I will check back when it's my turn!!

while we're waiting what are the rules about undrafted players from the other 12 teams, trades etc? do the rosters stay static, or can defeciencies (sp?!) be addressed through trade and or free agent aquistion? or is the whole point to stay PURE?

The whole point is to stay pure. Sorry no trades or free agent pick ups.
