69 LIVE DRAFT - 80 Mil w/ DH - FULL !

Our historical single season sets

Mack is dropped...

Postby TomSiebert » Tue Dec 06, 2005 10:21 am

I'm cool w/ the AP rule; it does seem unfair that somebody can drop their first rounder 8 picks later, as other teams are drafting to combat what they've been seeing for several days now. Still, I think we should make an exception for triple-oh-seven, since I want to pick up Reggie to play RF!

Seriously, I appreciate peoples' understanding on Mack Jones. I should have whacked him from my proxy list after I got THE MAN ROY WHITE, but it's been nuts at my house readying for the winter storm that didn't hit and decorating the house. Thanks to Albert2b specifically for OK-ing the drop. I took Ed Kirkpatrick instead.

Bizarre on the closer ratings, incidentally. I had already noticed that you couldn't sort out closers, but that still didn't lead me to believe they weren't ranked to close. This mystifies me; why do they have the ratings if they don't use them? I think it would add additional strategy to the game if these pitchers could close. Frankly, I don't think I would have picked Drabowsky if it wasn't for his closer rating. Grrrrrr.

Oops. My bad, AP. All the drafts I did on penn's site in the past allowed anyone to approve a drop. I just thought I'd approve Tom's drop of Jones to keep the draft moving along. If this is the way you want it, then I won't be approving anymore drops. Sorry.

BTW, my pick will be coming up shortly. Need another 10 minutes or so.

All is cool boys.

Called Brad and he told me he put in that request in rd 1 when we were stuck for a long time.........but there was no way for him to recind the request.

He fully wants to keep him.

Albert, no prob on the drop approval - you did nothing wrong.

Great bunch. Let's play !

Albert is up - don't take my pick ! lol !!!!

Just my opinion, but I do not think we should approve any drops once the next pick has been made. That is, if you're online and you click on the wrong guy, you should be able to undo it. However, once your pick has been covered by the next pick, the pick is yours.

Clearly we do not want a rule that discourages proxies, but I don't think drops should be allowed.

Pick made.....reluctantly.

Didn't realize all the SS were gone. Kubiak is really the only decent fielding one left. Not a good fit at all in Fulton County, but at this point, I wanted at least one good defender up the middle (plan on playing Held at 2B :D ).

Drop Rule

Postby cminton » Tue Dec 06, 2005 11:01 am

AP, If you are going to allow drops within one round turn (two picks), then the player in question should be unavailable to be drafted for the same round turn. That is, if Tom picks Mack Jones and then half a round later realizes it's a mistake and drops him, all the teams that picked between the time he took Jones and dropped him would have had a shot at him. Mack Jones would have been available for several teams before you got a shot at him.

Charlie, no one asked for you opinon

JONES IS MINE MINE MINE !!!!!!!!

Seriously, but Charlie you already made my case....." Don't want to discourage proxies"

Since this is NOT a cut-throat / and or TOUR league we are here to have fun and build a competitve team. Allowing someone to fix an effor within a defined period of time is all in good sportsmanship. We are not playing chess, we did not take our hands off the piece - turn over.

I do agree there are circumstances / leagues where that is not acceptable, but this league IMHO is not one of them. ......and since it's my league - we move on.

Let me clarify...

I'm assuming Mack Jones was originally picked in round 8 (pick 92). Here's the draft from that point on:

8 92 BALMERBASEBALL2 Andrews, Mike 2b-2e26 6.31 2005-12-06 00:00:10
8 93 BRAD0007 Francona, Tito* lf-4(+1)e14/ 1b-4e30 2.41 2005-12-06 08:38:20
8 94 JOEMIC Martinez, Marty+ lf-4(+2)e15/ ss-4e56/ 3b-4e44/ c-4(+2)e16,T-20(pb-9)/ 2b-4e13 0.65 2005-12-06 08:40:17
8 95 FATTY McLain, Denny S9* 7.68 2005-12-06 08:40:18
8 96 CALLIAUME May, Carlos* rf-4(+1)e6/ lf-4e6 4.56 2005-12-06 08:40:19
9 97 CALLIAUME Robinson, Brooks 3b-1e14 3.81 2005-12-06 08:40:20
9 98 FATTY Hisle, Larry cf-3(-1)e11/ rf-3e11 3.39 2005-12-06 08:47:16
9 99 JOEMIC Peterson, Cap lf-3(-1)e8/ rf-3e8/ 3b-4e41 0.6 2005-12-06 08:50:09
9 100 BRAD0007 Dalrymple, Clay* c-2(+2)e8,T-10(pb-4) 1.7 2005-12-06 08:54:34
9 101 BALMERBASEBALL2 Kirkpatrick, Ed* rf-3(0)e2/ lf-3e2/ cf-4e2/ c-4(+5)e16,T-20(pb-0)/ 1b-4e25/ 3.76 2005-12-06 10:25:44
9 102 CHARLIE Veale, Bob* S7* 2.59 2005-12-06 08:55:09
9 103 SGTD Tolan, Bobby* cf-3(-2)e12/ rf-2e12 5.79 2005-12-06 08:55:10
9 104 ELKOSKIPPER Williams, Billy* lf-3(0)e13/ rf-4e13 3.29 2005-12-06 08:55:11
9 105 AP Shamsky, Art* rf-4(+1)e3/ lf-4e3/ 1b-4e22 3.11 2005-12-06 08:55:12
9 106 TRICH Blair, Paul cf-1(-1)e6 8.64 2005-12-06 08:55:13
9 107 ALBERT2B Fulton County Stadium Stadium (9,9,19,19) 2005-12-06 08:55:14
9 108 UNCLENY Morgan, Joe* 2b-3e24/ lf-4(+3)e16 4.13 2005-12-06 10:10:05
10 109 UNCLENY McGlothlin, Jim S6*/R3 2.96 2005-12-06 10:12:27
10 110 ALBERT2B Kubiak, Ted+ ss-2e19/ 2b-3e26/ 3b-3e65 1.3 2005-12-06 10:40:39
10 111 TRICH Hands, Bill S8* 7.46 2005-12-06 10:45:07
10 112 AP Jones, Mack* lf-3(-1)e14/ cf-4e14 3.48 2005-12-06 10:45:09

Four teams would have had a shot at Jones before Tom's next pick, Tomn would have had another shot at him, and then several teams would have had a shot at him before AP. Mack Jones should have been held out until 117. That is BRAD007's pick in round 10.

Charlie, did not read your last post before I posted mine....did not want you to think I did.

You have a point - a valid point - one that I'd like to try to adhere to but the problem is we are at A) the mercy of penn's site and can't put those restriction in the software + B) we are normally not here / around to notice things.

I had Jones proxied up and had no idea he was even dropped till Brad told me on the phone - which is why I went here to look.

Again, it would be a drafting / commish nightmare to monitor that.

Not the 1st league in the world that allows drops. If you see M.Jones dropped right after you picked then you drop a player to pick him up - QUICKLY - as long as you are under my criteria above.

Don't have time to monitor this - and really not that big of a deal.
