Slow Hook Did Not Occur

I suffered a loss in a recent game, and am questioning Hal's maneuvering of my team.

My pitcher, Bob Gibson, was leading a game 2-1 going into the top of the 7th inning, and he was scheduled to bat with one out and a batter on second. Prior to the game, I had checked the box "Slow Hook" for Gibson, and would have thought that given that instruction that he would have remained in the game and batted in that situation. Instead, he was pinch hit for, and Gibson's relief pitcher eventually blew the save and I ended up losing the game.

Because of the runner in scoring position with only a one-run lead, did that somehow override my instruction for a slow hook? Anybody have any similar experiences?

too bad cuz gibby is a good hitter. i had the same strategy settings too. i even had conservative bullpen...

Since you both have had Gibson, can you tell me if he has performed for you? I have him in a DH league at Dodger Stadium (12 hr both hands) and 1/3 of the way thru the season he is 5-8 with a 5.89 ERA and 20!!!! hr's allowed.

Since he doesn't have an HR anywhere on his card, I gotta figue this is an extremely long stretch of bad rolls.

gibby has won 19 games both times he was on my team. he started slow this last time and then won 13 games after game 81. era at about 3.00 each time.

law of averages says he is due in my opinion

Slow hook remains a mystery to me! I can't really see any difference in the way the simulation behaves when it is turned on. :D

Since you asked, here is how Gibson performed in my 1969 league...

Although the 14-18 record is disappointing, he was victimized by poor run support on a number of occasions, and could have easily had 20 wins. He led the league with five shutouts, and had my team scored in regulation on two other occasions, he would have had seven. My home stadium was Dodger Stadium.

Ken- thanks, but can you post the thread again, this one did not work. I think it should have you league/team number at the end.
