I know he is one of the best defensive players in the game (1(0)e0 in CF), but is Ken Berry worth the money ($1.47), since he doesn't have much power, can't steal and doesn't seem to have too much stick?

You're prolly better off with AGon or Chief Hekawi...

Seems like you're paying for the D, which is a premium in CF in this game.[/list]

I was actually planning an outfield of Parmenter in center, Agorn in right (good speed) and Sgt. O'Rourke in left (no speed, no D, but good power). Unfortunately, I had to settle for Harvey Korman in right and a platoon of Tim Conway and Frank Devol in left.

Pickup one of the Horton's to represent medicine man, "Roaring Chicken" who was played by Edward Everett Horton. Ancestor to the main speaker during Lincoln's Gettysburg address.

I think we have a serious F-Troop theme going.

Duffy Dyer to represent Trooper Duffy

Brooks Robinson could represent Vanderbilt who was played by Joe BROOKS

Just saw Pvt. Dobbs' card:

BL TR W/W 2R Steal: D, Bunt: B, H&R: C Running: 1-12
2B 2e34, 3B 2e25, LF 3e11 (+3)
148 AB, 2 HR, 17 RBI, 5 SB, .245 BA, .289 OBP, .314 SLP

Not too bad for a $.50 mil utility guy in this set. And he can do the National Anthem on the bugle.

Brooks can't replace Vanderbilt because Vanderbilt has to be a pitcher ... long reliever with no control (because he can't see the plate). Like Ryne Duren, Vanderbilt's best pitch is the warm-up back to the screen. No one digs in against him.

It's been almost 35 years, but your post brings back a buried memory of looking at Berry's card ('72?) and thinking, "that guy looks like the Captain from F-Troop". Hadn't thought about it since.
