HAL's a genius!

Botom of the 8th, 0-0 tie, 2 outs, runner on 1st, the pitcher, Jim Hardin, is due up. He's pitched one inning of relief, the bullpen is rested, the entire bench is available.

HAL does not pinch hit.

Hardin hits a two-run homer in this first at bat of the season, and sets down the other team in order in the 9th to pick up the win.

On the other hand, Jim Nash goes 8+ innings to win the middle game of a series and the next game he's called on to relieve. Granted, Hardin and Williams had pitched in game one, Hardin starting and Williams in relief, but both had shorter outings.
