I'm tracking this of course for eventual records pages. You heard it here first. This is the official list of how many leagues have started since the 1969 game has begun. I keep this so I can eventually pour through those leagues with my elves and extract the first set of records.
Week 1 - [b:22583ff142]15[/b:22583ff142] - 80 Mil - [b:22583ff142]2[/b:22583ff142] - 100 Mil
Week 2 - [b:22583ff142]12[/b:22583ff142] - 80 Mil - [b:22583ff142]1[/b:22583ff142] - 100 Mil
Week 3 - [b:22583ff142]7[/b:22583ff142] - 80 Mil - [b:22583ff142]4[/b:22583ff142] - 100 Mil
Week 4 - [b:22583ff142]7[/b:22583ff142] - 80 Mil
Week 5 - [b:22583ff142]7[/b:22583ff142] - 80 Mil - [b:22583ff142]2[/b:22583ff142] - 200 Mil -[b:22583ff142]2[/b:22583ff142] - 60 Mil - [b:22583ff142]1[/b:22583ff142] - 100 Mil
I can see that last week, the first 60 and 200 mil leagues finally launched. So people are finally getting into the different cap leagues.
I hope you find it interesting. Multiply each league by 12 to get the total amount of teams purchased and you can get some kind of grand total how much we have spent on this game.
Enjoy !

The two 200mil leagues are my 24 team draft leagues and nobody has a sal over 80mil in them but we would have had min salary problems in any other format.

I'll try to red flag them as being "possibly" available for team records, which I normally only allow for 80 Mil leagues. As long as no one goes over 80 at any point in the season, I would justify team records for them. Individual records would be allowed.
T, are they expected to not go over 80 during the season ?

MM I can answer that question for you. I am in one of the two 200M leagues TRich is referring to. All of the available players are spread over 24 teams in two leagues. The 4 playoff teams from both leagues as well as the 4 non-playoff teams with the best records will be playing in a 3rd league for the championship using the same rosters. After 24 teams fill 25 man rosters that leaves about 10 or so .50 players undrafted and unused. There is no way any team will ever be over 80M. Most teams in the league are actually around 60M. There are some really weak overall rosters in these leagues compared to your typical 1969 leagues. It has taken several weeks to live draft all of the rosters. The leagues start play tonight. I can't wait!

Curious if you kept tallies of the other games and if so how does this early pattern compare?

I probably did, but I don't have the data anymore. The 200x game always generates the most [b:1497ce2e8e]initial[/b:1497ce2e8e] interest and is undoubtedly the most popular game. The ATG2 game had a good initial opening but has dropped off considerably. The 80's game may be dying and never did have a strong following. I would say this game is doing stronger than expected. 7 leagues per week for the last 3 weeks is stronger than ATG2 but still lags behind the number of leagues that 200x is still generating. The 80's game launches 1, maybe 2 leagues per week.

MM, They will not. 24 managers live drafted complete rosters. The only F/A are .50 guys that went undrafted in the 26rd live draft. Nearly every player in the set is being used in the 1st two leagues. The top six from each league will meet in a finals league.

As far as the 80's game dying I will say that if anything it is gaining popularity in the last few months. I know it still lags behind 00 and ATG as well as this set but it is far from dead.

Perhaps it's had a resurgence of late. (The 80's game) - Once I get the initial 4-5-6 weeks of beginning leagues, I don't track # of leagues starting, only TSN itself will have those numbers and they don't tell. I can go by the number of people who post records and the number of changes to the records that I have to make. Perhaps in a few weeks, I will see more records posting. But you certainly could be right, I'm only going on a feeling.
