Lance Parrish wants bigger dugouts at Tiger Stadium. "If you examine the head of every Tiger player in history, you'll find a knot from where he's bumped his head on the dugout," said the Detroit Tigers catcher. Parrish isn't likely to get his wish. The Tigers would have to remove box seats to enlarge the dugouts.

Darnell Coles' winter season in the Dominican Republic ended early with Coles hitting only .203. He will be given a chance to win the third base job in spring training. . . . . Pitchers and catchers were scheduled to report to spring training February 20 with the rest of the squad arriving February 25.

Too funny...

I don't know what is funnier- that a major league baseball team would continue to live with a dugout perilous to its players... or that it'd be news enough to have as a headline back in the real world in 1986.

And Darnell Coles was a guy who I always thought had more potential than he ever lived up to- that was a shame.
