Washington Senators Challenge -- League Full, Password sent

Postby MICHAELEVANS » Fri Oct 28, 2005 11:17 am

I have not played the 1969 game yet, and to be honest, the only reason I want to play it is that I was a big fan of the Washington Senators during the 1960's. I would like to propose a challenge league, 80MM no DH waivers. The game would be run like this. All eleven managers except me would be able to draft (or pick up on waivers later) any player [b:ee942b0c58][u:ee942b0c58]EXCEPT[/u:ee942b0c58][/b:ee942b0c58] members of the Washington Senators. I would ONLY be able to draft or pickup on wiavers Senators. I would not be able to trade to anyone else, but the eleven other managers would be able to trade among themselves freely, as in regular leagues.

To make it even more interesting, I would give a credit to any SOM game to the eventual League Champion (for example, he could decide he wanted his credit in the 2005 game, or ATGII, or 1969, etc.)

I don't want this to be a live draft or frenzy, but since I really can't participate in the waivers anyway, if a majority of the managers want a frenzy, that would be ok with me, since all Senators would be off-limits. if anyone inadvertently picks a Senator in the draft or waivers, they would be required to drop the player so I could pick him up.

So, how about it?

I still haven't decided, but I may decide to play in a different stadium than RFK. Do the other managers care which field I use?

(That presumes that there are other managers. So far, no one has been tempted by the chance to earn a free credit). :?

Old Geezer,

You might consider changing this to a "purist format" and play your Senators in RFK against 11 other owners and their favorite teams in their own ballparks. I had a very solid group that was into this style of play in ATGII. I might even consider joining you with my Giants. Just a thought.

Most of the team salaries in the 1969 set are fairly even once you exclude the Orioles (the Twins can fit under the cap by dropping B. Miller for this theme).

Note if you place divisions by salary then it also helps some level of parity.

How about a one-team theme league, where everyone drafts only from a single team (the Orioles excepted), and maybe can draft one Oriole for each team. What do you think?

I like it! State the rules and I'll sign up.

DH or no DH? etc

OK, rules are: you sign up with a particular team and you can only draft or pick up on waivers members of that team. You must also play in the ballpark of your team. No one can choose the Baltimore Orioles. There will be waivers, and NO DH. This will be an 80MM league autodraft (all the teams except Baltimore fit under 80MM, except Minnesota, which has a salary of 81MM, but if someone picks Minnesota, they would have to drop 1MM of salary).

Under waivers, you may only select players from your chosen team (since you may be able to fit more than 25 players under your salary cap, you may wish to select additional members of your team).

Is this strictly your team and nobody else? No drafting of a free agent from a team not selected or anything? Just asking because you mentioned something like that above.

Question

Postby LMBombers » Fri Oct 28, 2005 2:29 pm

OK, Here's a question. Pittsburgh only has 9 pitchers. You have to have 10 pitchers to complete an autodraft form. Do I have to draft a non-Pirate and then drop him after the autodraft?

I'm willing to be overruled by a majority of managers, but I would like to keep it just your team. If a majority want to be able to select someone else from a non-selected team, I think we should limit it to the waiver period, and maybe only 2 players can be chosen that are not part of your team and only one of them can be from the Orioles. What do you think?
