<img src="http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/images/baseball/stratomatic/1986/story_photos/rob_deer_150x203.jpg" align="left" border="1" width="150" height="203" style="margin-right: 10px;" /> 25-year-old rightfielder Rob Deer went berserk (in the good way) Thursday night, going 4-for-5, blasting 3 homers and driving in 7 runs, as the Brewers routed the Rangers 10-2. Milwaukee ace Teddy Higuera went the distance, whiffing 12 and walking none.

Deer said the only blemish of his otherwise perfect day was the single he hit in the 7th. When asked why, he replied, "That's not one of the Three True Outcomes." No one knew what he was talking about. [b:107ab923a1]Boxscore[/b:107ab923a1]

[b:107ab923a1]Other AL action:[/b:107ab923a1] Roger Clemens, who threw a shutout vs. the White Sox in his previous start, made a triumphant return to the mound after 4 days of retirement, putting up 7 more zero's against the hapless Royals. [b:107ab923a1]In the NL:[/b:107ab923a1] Bob Forsch went the distance for the Cardinals, allowing only 1 run in a 6-1 win over New York, stopping the Mets' win streak at 6. [b:107ab923a1]Boxscore[/b:107ab923a1]

Royals blame stadium architects for poor start

Coming off an impressive World Series victory last year, the Royals seem to have difficulty defending their crown. One reason may be the recent discovery that Royals stadium was constructed on an ancient Wyandotte Indian burial ground. The powerful aura knocks down 90% of all would-be homeruns.

"This wasn't a problem last year," remarked the homerless Steve Balboni. "Maybe we shouldn't have taunted the baseball gods so much last fall."

Staff architects have been fired and Royals GM Brooks Melchior seems willing to trade BP homeruns for some OBP. One likely partner would be Atlanta, who may have to begin using a humidor for home games to save its starters. One trade rumor has Frank White and Steve Balboni going to the Braves for Glenn Hubbard and the oft neglected Chris Chambliss. No word yet as to how this may impact Dale Murphy's chat room...

I'm glad to see the Orioles are 1-8....somethings haven't changed over the last 20 years...the only thing is Flanagan is pitching, and not masterminding another disaster on the field....
