Every Phillies position player got at least 1 hit, as the team piled on 22 hits in all, including Rick Schu's 3rd homer of the year. In the middle of their gratuitous 6-run 8th, the team's mascot, the Phillie Phanatic, was seen doing a little dance towards Mr. Met that was wholly inappropriate for a family audience.
[b:db95ea1d1e]In the AL:[/b:db95ea1d1e] The Baltimore Orioles, after an impressive opening day victory, suffered their 9th straight loss to the Texas Rangers and an unhittable Charlie Hough. Hough pitched a compete game 2-hitter, and struck out 8, even though after the 4th inning he decided to forego his trademark knuckleball for nothing but 83-mph fastballs.
