Hal's use of pitchers? Not very realistic

Hi Guys,

Love the game to an extent, but I have had some problems with the use of pitchers, and the lack of a fatigue factor (generally speaking). Just last night there was a severe example that makes me wonder more.

In Game 1 Bosman pitches a complete game shutout. Game two, Bosman comes in relief (first pitcher from the pen) in 5th inning and throws another 2 innings! Iron man or what?!!!

In Game 2 Moose starts and pitches 4 innings. In game 3, he's the first pitcher out of the pen and throws 2 innings.

Come on. How is that realistic? Can I set it so that Gibson pitches every game?

The first game (Game 136) is a complete game pitcher's duel in which Jim Palmer defeated Bob Gibson (Gibby pitched just 8 innings, however).

The following game (Game 137), both Palmer and Gibson were brought in to pitch in a marathon extra inning game (23 innings); both of them pitched four innings, and this time Gibson won the rematch.

Palmer had a combined 13 innings pitched in two consecutive games; Gibson had 12 innings.

Realistic?? Of course not. But given the length of the extra-inning game, what other options did HAL have? Besides, if we couldn't complain about HAL, there wouldn't be much activity on the message boards.

Even though I could have pitched Gibson again in Game 140, I decided that he was entitled to an additional day's rest, so I held him out one additional day.
