This time, they were helped in their losing ways by reliever Bruce Sutter (5-8) who surrendered three seventh inning runs to give the Astros a 6-5 come from behind victory. Sutter entered the game in the 7th inning protecting a 4-3 lead. Four batters later, Houston's Phil Garner hit a home run to straight away centerfield to put the Astros ahead 6-4. It was Garner's 5th home run of the season, and was the 11th surrendered by Sutter in just under 80 innings.
