Those players that did take the field, had a good time doing so.
[b:4ecf45c98e]In Cleveland,[/b:4ecf45c98e] the [url=http://www.sportingnews.com/baseball/1986/scores/boxscore.php?id=1325]Tigers shredded the Indians 12-2[/url]. Frank Tanana went the distance for the Tigers, who are now only 1 game back of the division leading Blue Jays. Lou Whitaker had a good night, going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and a towering home run to dead center in the 3rd inning.
[b:4ecf45c98e]In Oakland,[/b:4ecf45c98e] the score was much closer as the [url=http://www.sportingnews.com/baseball/1986/scores/boxscore.php?id=1326]A's outlasted the Angels, 3-1[/url]. The winning pitcher was Moose Haas (11-7) while Mike Witt (10-9) took the tough luck loss. The lone Angels run came on a homer from the bat of Wally Joyner (his 14th of the season).
[b:4ecf45c98e]On the other side of the bay,[/b:4ecf45c98e] the [url=http://www.sportingnews.com/baseball/1986/scores/boxscore.php?id=1324]Braves defeated the Giants, 3-2[/url] despite almost blowing the lead in the 9th yet again as Braves closer Gene Garber kept it interesting. The poor soul on the losing end of the game was Giant starter Kelly Downs (5-5) who has managed only 10 decisions in 19 starts this year. The big blow of the game came from Mr Mojo himself, Bob Horner, who could be heard screaming "Yeah baby!" as he rounded the bases.
