86 TAKE 2: WHAT HAPPENED TO JOHNNY GRUBB????

Postby ths92110 » Mon Mar 03, 2008 11:25 am

In SOM's replay of the 1986 season, the Tigers had Johnny Grubb until game 117, where he pinch hits in the last game before the All-Star Break. Since then he has not appeared in a game, and is, apparently, no longer on the roster.

WHERE DID HE GO??????? Was he removed from the game so the "Red Sox [can] Change the course of history"???? How come the Yankees get to keep Julio Franco??? Why not just give Ed Romero Mike Schmidt's 86 card????

Not surprisingly the Tigers have gone 8-10 since game 117, and I'm quite sure we'll see them fall to 3rd or 4th place in the near future. It makes you wonder what other SOM online games are being manipulated to achieve desired results . . . . .

There were a few players that had exceptional cards that had usage limits placed on them for this league. I think Grubb was one of them. I know Bochy for the Padres was another. The managers could either use up their usage all at once or try to spread out their ABs throughout the season. Apparently the Tigers manager elected to use up Grubb's ABs before the end of the season. This was nothing devious that TSN did. The managers were fully aware of the limits on certain players.

Cards were over-powering.

Some usage guys made it to the set. Ed Wojna who DID NOT have a usage limit, did miss the 1986 cut though. Shame.

No. The usage limit was for 'realism' in the simulation of the 1986 season.
