The winning run was scored on a two-out RBI single by pinch hitter Jeff Hamilton, who got his 15th RBI in just 51 at bats on the 1986 season.
Mike Scott (11-6) took the loss, despite striking out 14 batters. Scott was masterful, striking out each of the 9 Dodgers in the starting lineup at least once, but got no help from his offense.
The Dodgers have played well lately, winning 11 of their past 14 games, and have gotten to .500 on the season. However, the winning ways still leave Los Angeles a full 10 games behind the division leading Padres in the N.L. West.
