Danny Cox had his game face on as he pitched one of his best games of the year as the Cardinals shut down the Reds, 4-1. Cox was huge, going all 9 innings and allowing only 5 hits, no walks while striking out 3 Reds.

Los Angeles smacked 18 hits against the Mets staff but ended up stranding 15 base runners. The end result? The Mets and the Cardinals are tied yet again for first place in the NL East. Mr. Met is speechless.

Scanning cans at the express lane was Walt Terrell who went the distance allowing only 1 hit against the Angel hitters. The losing pitcher was John Candelaria who only lost for the third time this year and is now 15-3 on the season.
[b:6f53c1fa6e]In the "it can only happen in strat" game of the night...[/b:6f53c1fa6e] the Braves defeated the Cubs, 5-4. What looked like a normal 4-4 game in the bottom of the ninth turned out to be a split card bonanza. Rafael Ramirez led off the inning by getting plunked. With the runner on first, Steve Trout was brought into the tie game. The next move was to bring in Andres Thomas as a pinch hitter for the pitcher slot, and Andres flied out harmlessly to LF. Seeking the opportunity to make something happen, Ramirez stole second base. Glenn Hubbard then came up and hit an easy fly ball to RF that was dropped by Keith Moreland for a 1 base error.
The game ended as Steve Trout unloaded the next pitch to the backstop allowing Ramirez to score the winning run.
