Shortstop Ozzie Gulllen drove in three runs to spark the White Sox offense in Chicago's [u:2b7ba600b9]8-6 win over the California Angels[/u:2b7ba600b9] Monday night.

Guillen contributed to Chicago's six run, first inning rally with a two run double- only his 18th extra base of the year. Guillen would later close out Chicago's scoring with an insurance run in the 8th (Guillen's rare 30th RBI on the season).

The victory was Chicago's 3rd in a row over the Angels, and inched the White Sox to within 10 games of the division leaders. With just 19 games remaining, the White Sox are hoping to make one final push toward the 1986: Take Two playoffs.

Of Chicago's 19 games left, 3 are against the Angels and 13 are against the Mariners & Twins, two teams among those with the worst records in baseball. If any schedule favors such a late season rally, it is that of the White Sox.

[b:2b7ba600b9]In Other Playoff Races...[/b:2b7ba600b9]

[b:2b7ba600b9]NL East:[/b:2b7ba600b9] The New York Mets kicked the offense up a notch (with 18 hits) to [u:2b7ba600b9]defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 11-6[/u:2b7ba600b9]. In winning, the Mets took a slim, likely temporary, one game lead in the National League East division race.

[b:2b7ba600b9]AL East:[/b:2b7ba600b9] The Toronto Blue Jays [u:2b7ba600b9]beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1[/u:2b7ba600b9] for their 5th straight victory... thanks to a 12th inning sacrifice fly by SS Tony Fernandez. Meanwhile, the Yankees could not gain ground on the idle Detroit Tigers, as [u:2b7ba600b9]New York lost to Baltimore 8-4[/u:2b7ba600b9]. Detroit remains in 1st place in the AL East, with New York (2 games back) and Toronto (3 games back) in hot pursuit.
