Playoff Pitching

Postby cwostevec » Fri Dec 02, 2005 1:23 pm

After numerous teams in BBT80's and 200X I finally got a team into the playoffs.

My #1 and #2 starters are slated to pitch games 161 and 162 of the regular season. I'm going with a 4 man rotation. Are they on full rest starting the playoffs or should i throw in a fifth statrter for game 162 and come back with my #1 for the first game of the playoffs?

Assuming that all of your starters are * as they appear to be, the starter in game 161 can start game 1 of the playoffs.

If your playoff position is secure and you do not need to win to get a better seed, and face a team you might match up better against.

I would start your "5th" starter and rest your #2 so he gets in the first series. If possible, I like to do this to take any chance of an injury away. I have had that happen to pitchers before, and it sucks.

There are 2 rest days between game 162 and the start of the season. I just started a series last monday, where I had McDowell and McNally going in games 161 and 162, then start games 1 and 2 of the playoffs (in the same order).

Hope that helps.
