Overpriced Players

What players do you feel are overpriced in the 1969 game? As far as major players go it seems that Yaz is overpriced. I have not seen good stats from him for his 7m+ salary.
What about the 10m+ SP in this game. I have not noticed dominant stats from these guys as a whole like you see in RJ in the 2005 game. Many times their stats are not that much better than the 7m guys IMO. What do you think?

I thought Koosmam would be better. got a 15-14 record with a 2.48 era on a 90 win team. for me. i had seaver too, traded him down the stretch. way too many gopher balls.

I had to drop Fritz Peterson. Not terrible, just not worth the $9.29 million. Agreed on Yaz, though his great D does help his value a little.

I don't think Killebrew has had great numbers that I have seen either.

I have barely played, but the high priced pitching held their own in my league. Seaver will give up HR's in any HR park. He needs to be in a pitchers park to maximize. M Andrews sucked for a team in Shibe, where he should be good. On the flip side, Paul Blair, Lee May and McCaulliffe seem to overperform. Lee may hit 58 HR's in Shibe(4th or 5th in HR vs rhp's w/35?), Blair scored 125 runs and hit .315(was in top 10 vs both LH and RH, while I have seen some McCaulliffe posts touting his HR's, while his card looks to be far from a power card. If I was into conspiracy theories, I'd say TSN inflates certain stats based on the price of the card. Again, these are just observations from my first league. But Lee May and McCaulliffe seem to bge especially blessed.

I think Clemente is over priced. Salary of over $10 mil for a non catcher with a 2 point injury. How many games can you actually count on him for?

I agree on Clemente. Great card, but for that price tag, he misses too many games.

Bonds seems to underperform his card (but his D is solid) as does Ron Santo (again, the defense probably makes up for it).

Guys...

Ya gotta remember something. You can't compare the cards to ATG II cards.

This is a 1 year sampling, like it or not. There are premiums placed on the cards. ie. Batting Average or OBP, or HR's etc...

Defense, especially up the middle, is virtually non-existent.If you want a good SS or 2B, 2 defensively is all you're going to get. And if you want him to hit, you're gonna pay for it.

In the league I played Santo was top 10 in RC, OBP & RBI for about $6.00.
