Over at Candlestick, the Giants shut out the Astros, 2-0. The Astro loss, coupled with the Padre victory, has reduced Houston's lead in the NL West to 1.5 games. The Padres have 4 to play while the Astros have 5 games remaining. Houston's magic number remains at 4.

[b:a296bd92e3]NL East Update:[/b:a296bd92e3] Getting kinda tight again as the Mets beat the Expos, 4-1, while the Cardinals lost to the Pirates, 6-4. Let's not forget the Glanville Express as the Phillies won 8-7 over the Cubs, behind 2 home runs from the bat of Gary Redus.

The Cards hold a 1 game lead over the Mets now; however, the Phillies are only 2.5 back and not officially eliminated as of yet.

[b:a296bd92e3]AL East Update:[/b:a296bd92e3] Waiter? I'll have what Henry Cotto is having please. Thank you.

The Yankees smashed the Blue Jays, 8-3 behind Henry's 2 home runs. Also, the Brewers edged the Tigers, 2-1 creating a tie again between New York and Detroit, with 5 games remaining for each club. Toronto is only 2.5 back still, but only has 4 games remaining as the sun begins to set on the Skydome.

[b:a296bd92e3]NL West Update:[/b:a296bd92e3] The Angels defeated the Royals, 4-3 and re-clinched the division title as they really had the division wrapped up months ago, but officially won 2 nights ago, but it was failed to be mentioned. Congrats to the Halos.

Sorry for the run-on sentence. This pennant fever has us all very exicted here.
