How damaging is Torre's T-19 rating as a fulltime catcher? Do teams use him as a catcher? Can you win with him there?

imo, you can get away with it depending on your division

He is used as the full-time catcher in about 75% of the leagues in my experience.
The fact that he is used that frequently in that position speaks more to the lack of talent at the catcher position than anything else.
Without looking at all of the records, I can say that I've seen Torre play some post-season games as the full-time catcher.
As said above, it depends on the divisional foes. If you play against tons of base stealers, it might not be the best option.

Joe Torre is way over priced. Compared to some other catchers in the 69 set, his card is mediocre at best.
Caveat: my team is in your division in this league. Take what you want from what I'm about to post with that in mind.
Read as follows: (BB) OBP (HR) where BB = total walks, OBP = total chances of reaching base (everything is equal, just the chance of getting on) and HR = total chances of hitting a HR (corrected for Fenway)
Joe Torre (16) 45 (5.25)L (8) 40 (4)R 5.81 mil
John Roseboro (4) 32 (2)w R .54 mil
So for 5.27 mil you get the following over Roseboro against RHers:
(4) 8 (2), N power and a lot less defense. Is it really worth that? Plus, the way I read your roster, your lineup will be 6R 2L against RHed pitchers. With Roseboro it's 5R 3L. Take a look at the pitching in our division.
Against leftys:
Al Kaline (9) 38 (14)L 2.87 mil Note the OBP difference is in walks - and Kaline will hit almost triple the HRs against LHers in your home park.
Drop Torre and pick up Kaline, save 2.4 mil to use elsewhere. Start Roseboro against RHers, move F. Robinson to 1B against LHers and use Kaline in RF (I'm assuming you'll use Price at C against LHers).
Finally, all advice is worth what you pay for it...

Woa! That's a lot to go on. Thanks for advice, free or not.
I had Kaline for a second, but with all the RH starters in division, I figured he'd be on bench too much for his price.
I'll give it all some more thought, but I think as far as my opening day catcher it will be A Likely Torre.
I'm ok with righthanded lineup...Oliver, Bonds, Cepeda and Menke all 1R or better, and I'm at fenway.
Again, thanks for the help.
