Once the baseball season ends where to the players go? Those that make lots of money head for Hawaii, Disney World, or some other prime destination. Many of the lower-echelon players are heading to beautiful Missouri to participate in the Show-Me State Fall Pro League. Care to join them?
Yes you read right, it’s the all new Show-Me State Fall Pro League, made up of big league players who are either over the hill or haven’t really climbed the hill yet. They are all headed to scenic Missouri to make a little extra money and showcase their skills.
That’s where you come in! The Show-Me State Pro League plays in 12 not-so-major league towns around the state. Franchises are available for you to purchase and manage. Are you up to the challenge?
Pick a franchise location from the list below and name your team. With your franchise you will receive a roster of 20 randomly chosen players, 12 position players and 8 pitchers. These players are randomly assigned from the $$ bottom of the 1986 roster. Most are .50 players. Greg Gross, at .84 is the big money guy. Total roster value of the 20 player on each roster is just over $11M. Yes, we're talking quality!
[size=18:6741beb45e]Now the interesting part![/size:6741beb45e] Once the league fills each team will have $25 M to pick 5 additional big-name players to round out their rosters. Bring in Mattingly, Schmidt, or Clemens if you want. Just make sure the 5 players salaries total $25 or less. We'll draft 5 rounds here on the '86 board. Each team needs to pick up 3 position players and 2 pitchers.
You can trade any of your 20 franchise players, but you cannot drop them. The 5 marquee players you bring in can be dropped and new players picked up as often as you like, even after each series if you like.
Here’s the details:
- 25-man rosters at all times, including your 20 franchise players and 5 big-name stars.
- No DH. In Missouri real men hit for themselves.
- Weighted waivers, but who cares as we have $200M budgets.
- 5 round draft by lottery, low to high, using numbers from the night drawings the last team enters (provided all teams in before 5:00 PM ET).
- As soon as you obligate to a particular city you will receive that team's roster. Start making deals as soon as you wish. You can trade any of your 20 franchise players, but you cannot drop them.
- I will send the roster lists to another league member, so they can attest that I do everything above board. I will also have another manager pick my team.
IMPORTANT: This will be a FUN league, so if you're grumpy or slow on drafts, please don't sign up. Smack talkers are especially welcome!
And now, the cities where franchises are available:

[b:6741beb45e][u:6741beb45e]Skidmore[/u:6741beb45e][/b:6741beb45e]: Population 342. Became famous in 1981 when a local bully was shot while sitting in his truck in front of the pool hall. Though dozens of residents saw the event, all denied seeing who committed the murder. On the lighter side, Skidmore has a very nice "Punkin Show" each year.
