1986 NetPlay League

A part-time owner is needed for a 1986 Franchise Keeper NetPlay (v.13) league to share a team with a member whose business obligations have reduced his time for games.

The league is based on franchises, with 12 selected the first year (1985). Teams have the rights to players who were on the MLB franchise in 1985 and succeeding years, and may retain those rights when those players move in MLB. So a player who broke in with a league franchise in 1985 or afterward may remain with that franchise until released or traded. For example, David Cone began his ML career with the Royals in 1986; he was traded to the Mets in 1986, but in the Franchise Keeper League he could remain a Royal.

The league uses the 40/25 rule, with 40-man rosters: 30 franchise players, plus three free agents with one-year options and seven no-option Tier 2 FAs (over 4.50 ERA and under .700 OPS) -- two drafted manually, the remaining five autodrafted with the option of releasing two and picking replacements. The usage is strictly 100%, so the supplemental FAs are sometimes needed.

The available franchise is Cincinnati, with Joe Carter, Alfredo Griffin and Dave Stewart as its three optionable FAs (Carter and Stewart with their best years ahead). The Reds may be a good future franchise, because like most small market MLB teams it let a lot of good young talent go elsewhere.

The season is in its first month of play, so there's lot of games to come. The game play schedule is a month every three weeks, although playing ahead is allowed.

If interested, PM me and I'll send you the League Constitution, official roster file and current league file. You must have v.13.01c (patched) with card images and, of course, the 1986 authorization. There are good guys in this league, the core of which has played together for years in various NP leagues -- some of whom (like ToiSan, Rjoh, BobM, AceVentura and MajorDeegan) are familiar on these boards.

Yes, there are 12 established franchises. What is being sought is someone to share the Cincinnati team with one of the owners (two other teams also have split ownership, and it works out well for them).
