How does this game compare?

...to the 200x games? I just started a 2008 league and I was thinking of trying out the 1986 game next. It wouldn't be for several weeks if I do, but I was just wondering what the general consensus is on this game. I notice it's not very popular.

I'm certainly not the most experienced of 1986 players, but in my one try I made the playoffs, the only time in my SOM existence. So you could say that I found 1986 to be a reasonably good year. :D As always, it depends on the league, but the one I was in (80m, no DH) had good balance, good pitching and realistic scores (4-3, 5-2, 2-1 and the like). After having played the roid influenced 200x sets, it was surprisingly exciting to read the boxes of a bunch of 7 hitters. Again, it all depends on the league, but IMHO I think you should give it a shot.

I agree with George Bernard! I personally love 70s and 80s baseball, and 1986 is a particularly good year. Lots of Hall of Famers, and legends. Better pitching, and stealing than we have seen this decade.
I wish more people would play 1986. I played in about 10 free leagues(although only 5 counted), and I have paid for 4 or 5 more. I would play more often,.. if others did.
I have one very important piece of advice for people who are not familiar with the 1986 card set. However, I do not wish to give away my secret to everyone. If anyone(who has yet to play) is really interested in my 3 cents of advice for a 1986 draft send me a PM(personal message) and I will hit you back with my draft advice. Have fun. If you can get a 1986 league going I may jump in, and I know a buddy who will join me. But then I might not want to give you my advice(as if anyone really cares).
