1969 Prehistoric Auction League II
This draft is the most fun of anyone I have participated in. Takes longer but prolongs the value of your dollar!
Auction to be held on dedicated TNS Message Board String here on the 1969 board.

$80M Cap to match SOM values

No DH!
First come first served fpr Prehistoric roto I teams (gordie Howe has already requested to be first alternate)

WE NOW NEED on MORE MANAGER!!!!
These will be rules.

Must bid on 25 players (10 pitchers, 15 hitters) and a unique stadium, which will also be auctioned as part of your $80M payroll (minimum stadium bid = 500K). These 25 players are your team for the ENTIRE SEASON (no add/drop or trading).

Minimum starting bid for any player is 10% of the player’s TSN established salary, rounding UP to nearest 0.1M (i.e. McCovey (13.35M) opening bid is $1.4M, Stargell (8.04M) is 900K).

Minimum bid increment is 100K

24 Hour bid clock based on time stamp on each message board entry (a player is considered “sold” when 24 hours elapses since the last bid – clock is reset to 24 hours at each bid).

Five (5) players will be up for bidding at any particular time (3 hitters and 2 pitchers). The initial five nominees will be the 3 highest priced hitters (McCovey, Jackson, F. Robinson) and 2 highest priced pitchers (Marichal, McDowell). Each time a player is sold the winning owner nominates a new player (any player yet to be auctioned) with a minimum bid. When that owner’s team has reached the maximum number of hitters/pitchers the nomination right slides to the next owner down on the division lineups (working East to West).

Divisions will be randomly assigned once 12 owners have signed-up.

Each owner is responsible for bidding within the limits of their 80M cap (budgeting for 25 players and a stadium, with a minimum salary/stadium cost of $500K).

BIDDING INSTRUCTIONS: Copy the full player name into the subject line, then include the player's last name, your user ID and our bid in the message body. The player name in the subject line makes it much easier to refer back to find the player along what will become a very long string. Thanks!

A word about the process: We have done a couple of these auctions in ATGIV and the auction itself can last up to six months. So we need dedicated owners who will see the process through and commit to fielding the team they purchase via the auction. Everyone has periods where they are unavailable and may miss out on certain players as a result – that is the nature of the beast. This is a very fun process and maximizes your credit value over a long period. We have a very good group of returning owners and I am sure this will be a lot of fun.

I will also get a randomizer run by a third party for division assignments.

Thanks all and let's keep it fun!

Please e-mail me when we fill and get going. Thanks for getting this going Commish RJ!

I vote for NO KEEPER PARKS!

Also I hope we keep the limit on active players to 5 at any given time. It goes a little slowly, but with the keepers the whole draft will go more quickly and having more than five gets too hectic in my view.

Just to be clear...the 100m cap is on bid dollars and not SOM dollars. That would mean the cap for league purposes would be 200M?

BAD NEWS: I have deleted all Excel sheets from the prior league - no more copies exist in my "sent mail" or any file. Does someone have the FINAL copy of the players and their "bid prices" from the initial league?

Also - I have confirmed that my brother (timboy) is OUT. We may need an alternate or three for this league.

I agree with Dan, no keeper parks and 5 at a time is good because, with keepers, this draft will go a lot quicker. I would expect all of the opening high-priced hitters to be keepers since they went at (relative) bargain prices. I'll also mention again that the keeper format tends to help the best teams since they have the best players, and letting bad teams keep more bad players isn't much help.

I probably have a copy of the final excel spreadsheet, but won't have time to look for it until late tonite. Harry's a stickler for keeping paperwork...
