second ring

Just won my second 1969 ring last night by winning game 6 in the bottom of the 11th. Still don't understand what happened in that game.

Did Wynn squeeze and beat out bunt? Despite having do not bunt checked.

Maybe an infield tapper, only play's at the plate, everyone's safe?

Then again, that would probably be scored as a hit, not a fielder's choice. This is a puzzler.

Andrew---Congrats on your second 69' ring--You're an awesome manager and well deserved...Here is what I think happened.. Since it says FC batter to 1b and not out at 1st I think the most likely scenario is the ball was hit to the right side of a drawn in- infield and Foy beats the throw to the plate. Had to have been a play at the plate since the hitter was safe at first...That is my opinion anyway.

I think the other posters here have got it right.

Seems Foy went from 3d where the batter could have been put out at first -- but for the fact that it made no sense to make the play at first in this situation -- and Foy beat the throw (or evaded the tag, or the C dropped the throw, or the throw was wild, or hit a bird in flight).

Could have been dribbler, but might just as easily been any kind of IF ground ball. In fact, I'd say it was more likely a "groundball B" type hit, because a dribbler might well have been scored a single.

Congrats on the title.

After 11 innings, HAL got REAL tired and made up a new ending.

Looks like the other posts are right on. Any way it happened - congrats! You and I have been in a few leagues together now and you always throw a competitive team out on the field. :D Plus, always lots of class whether you win or lose.

Don't know about the awesome manager part or you trying to make me blush?? In all the years of doing face to face leagues I only won 1 championship though had lots of teams made the playoofs. Thing is about the 1 time I won I thought the team did a late choke and missed the playoffs so I got mad and tore all of their cards in half. Then found out I made the playoffs and had to tape the cards back together. Don't remember which card set it was I had the Astros and since they stunk vs LH pitching that year they were given Bench and Dejesus. Was winning the series vs Yanks then started choking again so game 7 I literally shuffled the lineup. Was a riot cuz Bench ended up leading off with Dejesus hitting 4th yet won the game anyways.

Why wouldn't this just be a gbC? What am I missing? :?

I think a straight gbC would have resulted in the batter being thrown out at first. The box score showed the batter reaching 1st safely.
